Tie together form and function
On the morning of Wednesday 9 May, a panel of speakers will present ‘The build and design of the new Brisbane Supreme and District Court Building’ which gives a well-rounded view of the whole project from architects, developers, builders and designers of the new precinct.
This new development is not just a collection of buildings but a harmonious link that spans the Tank Street pedestrian and cycle bridge, and the existing walkway link that lies beside the courts thereby constructing a revitalised and modern zone.
Think outside the square
The afternoon seminar on Thursday 10 May features a session called “Acrylic sheets in architectural applications” presented by Earl Harrison from Astari Pacific, who will discuss the characteristics and uses of acrylic sheeting in applications as diverse as animal enclosures, aquariums and noise barriers.
Many of his examples will ring true for outdoor designers looking for a new edge for a special outdoor creation, which provides alternative product options to glass or other manufactured materials.
