BRISBANE WELCOMES A THRILLING NEW URBAN PUMP TRACK
08 May 2025
Brisbane City Council has unveiled an exciting addition to the revitalised Victoria Park / Barrambin precinct - a dynamic new Urban Pump Track designed to bring energy and adventure to the heart of the city. Developed as part of the Council’s vision for an inclusive and iconic parkland, the 260-metre pump track was brought to life by Bligh Tanner in collaboration with Bike Tracks Australia.

Built into the hillside of what was once the 8th hole of the former golf course, the track features a series of jumps, rollers and banked turns, offering hours of excitement for BMX riders and thrill-seekers alike.
To complement the natural terrain, Grassports QLD was commissioned to supply and install artificial turf around the track. The installation, which took approximately three weeks, presented a unique challenge due to the area’s complex undulations and slopes. Each section of turf had to be precisely cut to accommodate the complex curves and shapes of the pump track, and the sand infill had to be expertly moved and levelled to ensure even coverage and durability across all areas.
For the surfacing, Grassports QLD selected Comfort 30 turf from SYNLawn, a Melbourne-made product crafted from Australian made yarn. Comfort 30 is built for high-traffic areas and was selected for this project particularly due to its non-directional design which allows for maximum use of offcuts thus reducing wastage.
Opening in late 2024, the Urban Pump Track at Victoria Park / Barrambin reflects Brisbane’s commitment to active lifestyles, sustainable design, and accessible outdoor fun.
