BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER

The new Alumni Courtyard at Monash University has been transformed from a previously underused space into a vibrant social hub utilising sustainable, FSC certified Sugar Gum from Eco Timber Group.
Supplied by Eco Timber Group, new timber decking and seating has transformed a previously underutilised space on the Parkville Campus of Monash University into an outdoor area that is both inviting and relaxing. Home to over 2000 students, the Parkville Campus supports the notion of close contact between staff and students on their specialist campus, desiring to foster a supportive community in the heart of one of Australia's top health and biomedical precincts.
The Alumni Courtyard was previously an uninviting space that was not often used due to its exposure to the elements. Following their ethos of finding the perfect timber solution for individual clients needs, Eco Timber Group was able to provide sustainable FSC certified Sugar Gum - a species of Australian eucalypt - to the Monash project in order to meet client expectations.
A timber that generally sports few defects, Sugar Gum is a species of Australian Eucalypt that is highly prized for its durability and attractive pale orange decorative finish, making it an excellent choice for exterior construction in general and this project in particular.
Expertly constructed by Alchemy Construct, the new communal gathering space is now being enjoyed by students and teachers alike, as well as serving as a venue for social activities and events.
