Bountiful Bouquet of Blooms

An ordinary phone booth in NYC has been transformed with a beautiful flower installation that aims to generate an emotional response from the local community.

Botanical designer Lewis Miller returns to the streets of New York City to enliven an otherwise ordinary corner with a bountiful bouquet of flowers. A few years ago, Miller turned empty garbage cans into voluminous vases, each of which overflowed with colourful blooms and lush greenery.

His most recent street-side installation emerges from a telephone booth at 825 West End Avenue in Manhattan’s upper west side, spilling out from within the booth’s sliding doors.

Miller’s latest Flower Flash is a project that he and his team emphasise is a “constant pursuit of beauty”.

“What initially began as Lewis Miller design experiment to reinvigorate and reconnect us to our craft, turned into a beautiful shared experience in a city of millions,” the team said. “The Flower Flash is our gift to New Yorkers. Our goal is to create a positive, emotional response through flowers. Seeing people’s reactions to our flower flashes emphasises the basic goodness in all people and prioritises compassion and the need for LMD x NYC to carry on.”
