AUSTRALIAN PORPHYRY STONE

07 May 2012

Australian Porphyry Stone is Australia’s premier manufacturer of naturally slip resistant Australian Porphyry stone products.

Proudly owned and operated by the Ives family, Australian Porphyry Stone is Australia’s premier manufacturer of naturally slip resistant Australian Porphyry stone products. We mine Porphyry stone at our Irvinebank quarry sites and manufacture high quality stone products at our factory in Herberton, North Queensland.

Our factory includes a range of high quality saws and guillotines which enable us to confidently produce a variety of unique stone products. We supply stone to large and small scale commercial, civil and residential projects, both locally, nationally and internationally.

Our clients include councils, commercial builders, architects, landscape designers and contractors. Our distributors: Porphyry Plus in Melbourne, Victoria; and Fabrok in Brisbane, Queensland join us in our commitment to excellent customer service and the provision of consistent, superior quality Porphyry stone products.

Australian Porphyry is characterised by a high degree of hardness, a very high degree of resistance to abrasion and a V-Class slip resistance rating. These characteristics mean a high resistance to salt and algae and a non-slip surface-wet or dry.

We supply the following products:

• Cobblestones

• Random stone (crazy paving)

• Sawn pavers

• Guillotined stone

• Wallstone

All products are available in nature’s colours of grey and earth tones (browns). Porphyry stone is suitable for any indoor, outdoor flooring or walling application. Talk to our friendly sales staff about your requirements. We supply a range of standard products and can also manufacture to meet special requirements.

Australian Porphyry stone is volcanic rock; its formation began over 250 million years ago. Porphyry stone is characterised by a high degree of hardness, a very high degree of resistance to abrasion and a V class (very low) slip resistance rating. These characteristics mean: a high resistance to salt attack; a completely non-slip surface-wet or dry; it will not wear; the colours will not fade; and algae will not bond to it.

These qualities, together with the fact that it requires very little ongoing maintenance, is why Australian Porphyry stone is acknowledged as the most important material available for paving and facing.

With service all of Australia and have distributors in both Melbourne and Brisbane.
