A GLASS ACT

13 Sep 2018

Positioned on the iconic Manly Wharf, Hugos Manly offers one of Sydney’s most unforgettable dining experiences. For guests seated on the outdoor deck, this experience is enhanced thanks to Svalson’s recently installed barriers, which cut the wind without compromising the spectacular view.

Svalson Australia’s barriers offer a range of benefits. Not only are they stylish and elegant, ensuring the overall aesthetic of the location is not compromised, but they are functional and easy to use. With a simple sliding motion, the balustrades can be raised or lowered by hand, allowing for strong winds to be cut out if needed with minimal disruption to patrons.

With this functionality, outdoor spaces can be used in most weather conditions and even throughout the year. With the balustrades up, guests can still enjoy the views and fresh air on very windy days, which occur around 100 days annually. The balustrades also improve heating efficiency, allowing for diners to sit outside and enjoy the view in cosy comfort, even on cold winter nights.

For a popular destination like Hugos Manly, which offers high-end cocktails and cuisine right on Manly wharf, the outdoor deck is the star of the show. Guests love to relax outside, watching the Sydney ferries go by, and enjoy having a drink and a bite to eat as they watch the sun set over the water.

However, being a seaside venue, strong winds can often hinder the otherwise perfect experience and can therefore impact patronage. Svalson’s balustrades are the perfect solution, as they ensure that this memorable experience can be enjoyed throughout the year, allowing for Hugos to maintain one of their many key benefits.

Svalson’s barriers have transformed Hugos outdoor deck, making it usable for longer periods of time and ensuring the spectacular view is maintained.

Dave Evans, managing director of Hugos is ecstatic with the results. “I was amazed at how much the Svalson panels cut out the wind,” he enthused. “Our deck at Hugos Manly is now able to serve customers on most days, due to the wind being blocked out by these simple to operate panels. Our initial investment has been paid back in just a few months, due to the extra trade we received over winter. I cannot recommend [Svalson’s barriers] highly enough for outdoor dining areas.”
