Lighting the way for youth recreation at Byford Skate Park.

Tucked in the southern fringe of Perth’s metro area, Byford is a fast-growing suburb that retains its country charm while expanding its recreational offerings for the local community. One standout facility is the Byford Skate Park — now safer and more inviting after a specialised lighting upgrade designed and supplied by Integrated Power.

The Shire engaged Integrated Power to design a lighting system that could deliver high performance across the park’s complex terrain. Skate parks present unique design challenges due to their undulating surfaces, ramps, bowls, and jumps. Uneven lighting or poorly positioned fixtures can create hazardous shadowing or glare, putting riders at risk.

Integrated Power’s design focused on achieving excellent uniformity across all skating zones while minimising glare that could affect riders during tricks and aerial moves. The solution used CF Series Asymmetric LED floodlights, engineered specifically to distribute light where it’s needed most while avoiding overspill and direct glare.

Installation was completed by PowerCare WA, who worked closely with the design team to ensure each fixture was precisely placed and angled to maximise visibility and safety.

The result is a well-lit, evenly illuminated facility that provides a safer, more enjoyable space for local youth to gather, skate, and connect — day or night.
