KLS supplied the hand-finished blocks for a project in the Hills District in northern Sydney. The client and the builder liaised with KLS to produce this exceptional home that is immaculately finished inside and out.

Although the building is of modern design and layout, the solid sandstone blocks are treated with a sparrow peck finish, which is a traditional method used for centuries. This is achieved with a hammer and bolster.

Inside the home, the exposed sandstone gives texture and depth to the large walls and the fireplace has been created using rock-faced finished blocks, which creates a feature that has greater depth and texture.

Using solid sandstone blocks creates the opportunity for custom size, design and finish.
