Street Furniture Australia’s purpose is to bring lasting enjoyment to public places. The company believes that street furniture plays a central role in animating and connecting places. It ensures a place is vital, enjoyable and enriching for its community.
Street Furniture Australia's active research and development program places users at the heart of everything they do. Together with their design, custodian and contracting partners, they strive to make public spaces accessible and enriching for all.
SMART CITIES AND FUTURE STREET
Street Furniture Australia debuted three new products at the Future Street installation in front of Customs House, Circular Quay, as part of the 2017 International Festival of Landscape Architecture. The event aimed to present how streets could better support communities in the future.
Escola Smart Bin | A prototype was displayed to showcase a working fill monitor in action. This technology shows custodians exactly when their bins need to be emptied, helping maintenance teams avoid wasted trips, saving time, money, and reducing their carbon footprint.
There are a range of technologies and hardware available to put under the hood of a smart bin, including solar charging and distributed power, wifi hotspots, public service announcements, pedestrian and traffic monitoring, environmental sensors and fire alerts.
Smart Bins can also be fitted with speakers that thank good citizens for making deposits. Choose a classic "Good on ya, mate" and applause, or create a custom "Thank you".
PowerMe | This charging table was also a hit at Future Street, with visitors able to plug their devices and recharge outdoors for free. Sometimes three or four phones, tablets or laptops were seen plugged into the one table.
PowerMe is weather and future proof, with new technologies easily integrated. Simply lift the lid and connect via cable (BYO) or integrate wireless charging through the tabletop for select devices.
The unit can be hooked up to become a wifi hotspot and fitted with sensors to track use. It's also an easy place to rest your coffee cup.
ARIA | At Future Street, PowerMe was integrated with a third prototype, the modular ARIA seating system. ARIA is Street Furniture Australia’s response to a growing desire from custodians and specifiers for site-specific furniture.
Easily connect modular benches, seats, backrests, arms, corner pieces and side tables for seamless settings tailored to the needs of the people who will work, live and play in the space.
ARIA is a kit of parts, a seating system with a contemporary aesthetic. It feels custom, but comes at the more accessible price of standard products.
Each of the three prototype products will be launched and available in 2018. Contact the sales team for enquiries.
