Nelson Park

The much-loved Nelson Park at Alexandra Headlands has been revitalised into an all-inclusive, vibrant playground. Urban Play worked alongside the Sunshine Coast council to ensure the space could be enjoyed by all. Inspired by the surrounding pond, this playground features a custom lily-pad rubber design with a red frog that has children hopping with delight.

The all-abilities playground features a custom ramped structure with wheelchair access and various cognitive, social-emotional and sensorimotor panels for hours of stimulating fun. Slides at varying heights allows children to develop their spatial awareness while growing their confidence in heights. A double slide lets them experience the sensation of speed while sliding down with their friends, followed by a spin on the yellow spinner bowl.

The sand and water play station makes for hours of fun with friends and encourages gross motor skill development. Children can also sing a song into the tele-tubes, which helps to develop language and physical growth. Even small explorers can get involved in the playhouse structure. With four interactive panels, this little playhouse offers hours of play value. The upgrade to Nelson Park has local Sunshine Coast residents thrilled taking to social media stating, “We visited this playground yesterday, it’s so much better!”

Urban Play has completed over 7000 playgrounds throughout Queensland, Northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory and was thrilled to bring this all-abilities playground to the Sunshine Coast community.
