COMO POOL PATH STAGE 2 | DETAIL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION

by Growth Civil Landscapes Pty Ltd

The Como Pool Path site is set along the waterfront bounded by the Como Swimming Pool, tidal baths, café and sandstone seawall, at arguably one of the Sutherland Shire’s most spectacular outlooks!

The much-needed upgrade to the rundown path was led by Growth Civil Landscapes and included mass demolition of paving and concrete paths, earthworks and the decommissioning of two stair access ways that no longer met code, all while ensuring the heritage-listed sandstone seawall remained intact.

Unpredictable weather made for a challenging worksite. The construction process included drainage works, concrete paving, rendering, construction of stairs and a stone wall to match the existing heritage listed seawall. Additionally, the construction and installation of aluminium balustrade and handrails to seawall edge, stairs and ramps, together with the installation of street furniture including a new shower, seating and planting.

This magnificent and culturally significant site within the Como Pleasure Grounds, with panoramic views of the Georges River and surrounding bushlands, can be enjoyed all year round with thanks to Sutherland Shire Council and the team at Growth Civil Landscapes!
