Among the many projects under their belt, 2Construct has recently completed the St Mary of the Cross Square at the Australian Catholic University.
2Construct is one of the few construction companies in the State of Victoria that has knowledge and experience covering multi faceted project delivery. Among many Educational projects under their belt, 2Construct has recently completed the St Mary of the Cross Square at the Australian Catholic University, Melbourne Campus.
This project involved the construction of an open public square for student congregation and entry into the Daniel Mannix Building.
2Construct instituted a bluestone pitcher laneway, which is varied with geometric patterns of granite and precast paved surfaces. This perfectly coordinates with the building’s architecture as well as delineating how the space should be used to ease congestion. There is a large expense of grass for recreation and the main pathway is flanked by benches and 5 metre advanced trees to provide shelter and colour.
The symmetrical design is broken with a central piece of garden art, a bronze statue of St Mary McKillop which provides a stunning focal point at the centre of the pathway. Its location is quite interactive, allowing students to sit next to or around her, and it delivers a strong presence on the pathway.
2Construct also fitted stormwater drainage systems which feed into an underground tank to supply site irrigation.
The end result is a beautiful yet practical clean open space, ideal for students at work, play or just in transit.
