Who were the winners of the 2011 – 2012 Landscape Industries Association of Tasmania Awards of Excellence?
The Landscape Industries Association of Tasmania (LIAT) held its 2011 – 2012 Awards of Excellence on Saturday June 23.
The landscape industry in Australia contributes over $5 billion dollars to the Australian economy. It comprises in excess of 13,000 companies with over 195,000 employees. In Tasmania – in excess of $100 million dollars is added to the state’s economy annually, with the industry consisting of over 300 businesses and more than 1200 employees.
The Landscape Industries Association of Tasmania (LIAT) is the peak professional landscaping body in Tasmania and is dedicated to promoting the highest standards of quality in landscaping. The Association aims to give businesses and individuals involved in the landscape industry the opportunity to meet and discuss issues relevant to their profession. LIAT takes an active role in keeping members up to date with training and information sessions on new technologies, occupational health and safety, products and materials, construction methods and government and industry regulations.
The landscape industry contributes considerably to the environment and to the future establishment of green cities in Australia. Projects encompass residential, commercial, state and federal government spaces such as parks and recreational areas, sports grounds, inner city greenery such as roofscapes and streetscapes and environmental projects involving revegetation and regeneration.
The LIAT Awards of Excellence aim to recognise and reward the work of some of our state’s finest landscapers. The Awards provide an exciting opportunity for members to showcase their outstanding work to peers, industry and the community.
