WATERPROOF SHADERUNNER® SYSTEM TO SUMMERTOWN HOME

Set in the rolling Adelaide Hills, Summertown is famed for its fabulous vineyards, apple & cherry orchards and market gardens. The owners of this lovely home enjoy unspoilt views across this stunning landscape, with the elevated outdoor deck providing a fabulous entertaining space.

To provide protection from the elements and maximise use of this space, two fully retractable Shaderunner® shade systems were installed, extending from the house out over the deck and supported by an existing timber framed pergola. Whilst most Shaderunner® systems are made from a durable polyester mesh fabric for shade protection, these two systems were manufactured using waterproof PVC fabric for all-weather protection from both sun and rain. The waterproof PVC fabric features a PVDF lacquer coating on the top side for ease of keeping clean. This lightweight PVC is translucent and offers good light transmittance even on overcast days, whilst providing shade and all-weather protection on demand.

The Shaderunner® is manufactured from a range of rigorously tested fabrics which are as durable as they are stylish, being designed to withstand high traffic applications and the demands of the harsh Australian climate with ease.

The increasingly popular Shaderunner® is a fully retractable shade system, providing controllable shade as and when required. In the warmer months or during hotter times of the day, the Shaderunner® Retractable Shade System can be extended to provide UV protection and welcome shade. In the cooler months, the Shaderunner® can be retracted back to maximise winter sun and solar gains, and by selecting a waterproof fabric these systems can also be deployed for rain protection, enabling year-round use of the deck.

Though available with motorised operation, these two Shaderunners® are controlled manually using an endless draw cord for simplicity of operation. The Shaderunners® glide effortlessly along the wires via a series of ball bearing yachting pulleys, providing a durable and dependable retractable shade solution.
