Vertical gardens, also known as green or living walls, are a growing trend. Deep Green is leading the way in WA.
Vertical gardens, also known as green walls or living walls, are growing in popularity in W.A. From small residential designs right up to sizeable commercial and public projects, people are recognising the benefits a vertical garden can bring.
Deep Green Landscaping has also been working with local councils as part of urban greening trials, and its most recent installation for the City of Fremantle is set to provide temperature, water usage and social interaction data over a 12 month period.
Their specialist lightweight panel system is both lightweight and has a very slim profile, ideal for situations where space is at a premium. Their modular system is thicker, with more growing medium, for application where weight and size are less of an issue.
Benefits of vertical gardens include reduced ambient air temperatures, thermal and acoustic insulation, absorption of dust and particulates, increasing biodiversity and providing new habitat value as well as being aesthetically pleasing and potentially increasing property value. Recent studies into the ‘biophilia’ phenomenon show how people benefit psychologically from exposure to nature and natural elements, helping people be healthier, happier and more productive.
As plot sizes get smaller, and our urban centres get denser, it seems like the only way is up.
