TIPS TO MAKE THE MOST OF STONE CLADDING

20 Dec 2011

Stone cladding (or stone veneer) is a versatile, beautiful construction option that offers a range of uses.

Stone cladding (or stone veneer) is a versatile, beautiful construction option that offers a range of uses. However, using it to the best effect can sometimes be difficult to do. Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your stone cladding no matter where you choose to use it.

Opt for Synthetic

It’s rare to recommend a synthetic product over a natural one, but synthetic stone cladding offers some significant benefits over its all-natural counterpart. For example, natural stone cladding has to have serious reinforcement to support it. Synthetic stone does not. It’s lightweight and durable, and can be installed almost anywhere with little more than a coating of mortar underneath (or wire lath in the case of a wood substructure).

Combine Areas

One of the best tips concerning stone cladding is to use it throughout your exterior design. That doesn’t mean that everything in your landscape needs to look like stacked stone. However, you can tie different areas together with this material to create a unified look and feel. For example, if you use stone cladding on your home, you can also use it on uprights or standalone walls, garden walls and more throughout your yard to create a seamless design.

Color Me Surprised

Many people are surprised to find that stone cladding comes in a variety of different colors. You’ll find earth tones, black, brown, gray and much more. You can use these colors to maintain a consistent style while offering an eye-catching difference in your landscape design.

Use an Expert

In order to make the most of your stone cladding, it’s really advisable that you work with an outdoor design expert to ensure that you are using the material to its best effect. The right designer might even be able to help you use it indoors and outdoors for even more versatility and beauty.
