THE CONFLUENCE NET

23 Apr 2020

The Confluence Net is a completely bespoke play destination at Riverbend Park in Launceston, Tasmania, which has been conceived, designed, engineered, manufactured and installed by Moduplay. Take a look at this exciting new playspace.

Catching attention nationally and even globally, the playground is the result of an iterative three-round design process that Moduplay engaged in with Launceston City Council.

Confluence, defined as “the meeting point of two or more major rivers”, is reflected in the stunning design of The Confluence Net, which offers vast amounts of play opportunities for children of all ages and even adults too.

The design is an amazing combination of intense, fun and challenging play activities, including climbing nets that seem to stretch as far as the eye can see, inground trampolines, mound slides, plenty of quiet spaces where children can stop and reflect on the world around them, and climbing opportunities to allow them to get a view of the rivers, the city and the entry to the Cataract Gorge beyond.

Locals and visitors have stated that this playground is the highlight of their visit to this unique location. Riverbend Park encompasses several acres of reclaimed land filled with many other play areas, picnic facilities, equal access amenities and plenty of accessible parking, and is spectacularly positioned beside the Peppers Silo Hotel, a 5-Star hotel built inside a repurposed wheat silo from the 1960s.

The breathtaking scope of the project and its future value as an attraction to locals and visitors will see it become a well-loved destination in Launceston for many years to come.

Unique connection engineering was developed to facilitate ‘invisible’ joints in the gigantic tubular net structure. Moduplay worked closely on the playground with Launceston Council, with the construction of the landscape mound and wet pour rubber provided by other companies.

The Confluence Net project is an example of the breadth of experience and enthusiasm in the Moduplay team that combines to deliver whatever you can imagine in play; surpassing all expectations and delighting everybody involved with the process.

Moduplay congratulates The Launceston City Council team for embarking on and successfully completing this ambitious project.
