With its new retractable shade structures, the Queensland Country Bank Stadium project shows how practicality and aesthetics can be combined to improve facilities. This project involved the design, manufacturing and installation of two key sections: the Western and Southern Stands' shade structures, which were commissioned to improve operating efficiency and visitor experience at the stadium's Queensland venue.
During the initial design of the project, the Western Stand shades were initially considered the feature, spanning around 350 square metres. It involved the installation of 12 linked Shaderunner systems, each meticulously crafted to give both sun protection and architectural refinement.
Added in parallel was the Southern Stand shades, mirroring its Western counterpart, covering an area of around 330 square metres, also comprising 12 Shaderunners. Together, these structures harmonise the stadium's ambiance while augmenting its utility.

The shades are made of Vistaweave 95% Polyester Mesh Fabric and come with a 10-year manufacturer's warranty. They also provide outstanding UV protection and glare reduction.
