PLANS IN ACTION FOR SYDNEY’S NEW DARLING HARBOUR PRECINCT

10 Apr 2013

Plans on realising the new international convention, exhibition and entertainment hub at Sydney’s Darling Harbour have progressed with planning applications submitted to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure.

Plans on realising the new international convention, exhibition and entertainment hub at Sydney’s Darling Harbour have progressed with planning applications submitted to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure.

There are five key design precincts, coordinated by Hassell, including: the North-South boulevard; three primary public open space – the waterfront, Tumbalong Park and Haymarket Square; East-west connections including Harbourside Place and Tumbalong Place; the International Convention Centre and ICC hotel in the north with the entertainment theatre to the south and an expansion of the public realm with the event deck, terraced landscape and a larger Tumbalong Park.

Lend Lease has also lodged a concept proposal for a new residential and working district in the south part of the precinct, adjacent to Haymarket.

Both sites are on 99-year leases and Lend Lease will pay a combined $140 million to the NSW State Government, in seven instalments from 2013 to 2019, to control the sites.

The development proposal can be viewed online and the plans are on public exhibition until May 10, 2013.
