MAXIMISING URBAN GREENSPACES

25 Mar 2021

Make the most of available green spaces with G-WALL™, a living wall made up of interlocking cells, from Platipus®.

With urban areas continuing to grow around the world, the need to utilise the green spaces available is at an all-time high.

The use of living walls has become one of the established solutions for maximising urban vertical green spaces and enjoying the many benefits that they bring. Since developing the first underground tree anchoring system almost 40 years ago, Platipus® has continued to innovate and develop high quality products for the Landscaping Industry. Platipus has developed its own living wall, G-WALL™, to give all garden designers and landscape architects a durable and efficient system to transform their green spaces.

The Platipus G-WALL™ System incorporates the already hugely successful and patented D-MAN™ cell, from the D-MAN Tree Anchor System, to ensure guaranteed strength and security for any living wall project. The modular nature of the G-WALL allows for incredibly simple vertical and horizontal expansion, using interlocking, omnidirectional cells with an individual cell capacity of 580ml. These cells use ‘jigsaw’ integration and are easily connected using lightweight hand tools. This makes the G-WALL so versatile that anyone can start using the system straight from the box.

G-WALL is quick and easy to assemble and requires no batons, rails, hanging grids or membranes. Each cell provides four pockets for planting and accepts standard 13/16mm irrigation pipe. The facia also includes pocket ‘drip through’ irrigation slots to ensure water is supplied to all plants. As hot air rises it draws cool air up and around the cells, allowing for plant temperatures to remain moderated. The airflow reduces water evaporation and waste. G-WALL is available in 1m² units which contain 16 cells or 64 planting pockets.

Technical data sheets, AutoCAD Drawings, installation instructions and case studies are available giving you everything you need to create your own amazing vertical green space.
