MAGICAL READING TREE TO SCHOOL LIBRARY
04 Oct 2023
Helping children discover the joys of reading, Natureworks installed its magical reading tree to the Parafield Gardens Primary School library.
With a brief from teachers at Parafield Gardens Primary School, Natureworks worked to create an inspirational reading and learning space inside the school library. Firing up children’s imaginations, the team delivered a beautiful reading tree sculpture that the children can gather around and bring a sense of the outdoors to the enclosed library space.
The reading tree, inspired off the design of a fig tree, has numerous nooks around its base that children can crawl into and read a book or listen to readings from teachers. Immersing the children in a sensory experience, many critters can be spotted amongst the branches. From fungi to animals and insects, children’s imaginations will be stimulated the more they immerse themselves into the sculpture.
Assembled onsite, the artificial tree was cleverly designed with a central support column that makes up the trunk. The trunk is made up of two parts to allow for ease of installation into the middle of the library. After the tree was placed into position, Natureworks artists applied a textured blend to the seams of the tree to make the structure look more real. The final step was to add the branches and leaves to create the full product.
