LIGHTS, LASERS AND DRONES ... OH MY!

08 Jun 2023

Bringing life and light to the city of Sydney, Vivid 2023 is bigger and better than ever with the help of the Technical Direction Company (TDC).

Running from May 26 to June 17 2023, Vivid 2023 is a public display of light installations scattered around Sydney’s most famous sites. From Darling Harbour to Wynard Station, The Rocks to Sydney Opera House, Vivid is a staple event on the yearly calendar for Sydney-siders.

Going into its 13th edition, the theme of this year’s event is ‘Naturally’ which celebrates the beauty and diversity of the natural world. Transforming over 20 cityscape facades into dynamic artworks, TDC are apart of ensuring the light installations stay running efficiently and effectively. Using its automated remote monitoring system, TDC LiveView, the installations are monitored around the clock with impressive features such as troubleshooting issues remotely allowing staff to limit travel time between installations.

This year’s Vivid includes a recording breaking 150 laser projections, the largest ever laser installation in the Southern Hemisphere. This year’s laser installations offer 25 percent extra projection coverage than last year while consuming less energy, significantly reducing carbon waste in comparison to Vivid 2022.

Other TDC products used for this year’s event is the TwLite outdoor project towers that provide rapid deployment, improved airflow and enhance efficiency and projector lifespan.

From drone shows to laser projections, Vivid 2023 is a wonderland of public art displays that Sydney-siders can enjoy once again.
