LYNN DAVIDSON

One-on-one with Chairman of Turf Australia, Lynn Davidson, looking at the aim of the association and what we can expect from Turf Australia in the future.

One-on-one with Chairman of Turf Australia, Lynn Davidson.

How long have you been Chairman of Turf Australia?
I have been Chairman of Turf Australia since September 2008, and a founding board member since inception.

How did you get into the Turf industry?
My family entered the turf production industry in 1981, after generations in the sheep and cattle industry in western Queensland.

What is the aim of Turf Australia?
The ultimate aim of Turf Australia is to raise the profile of turf grass across the nation and to remind and educate Australians about the many benefits of turf grass. For example, not only is turf the safest surface for outdoor leisure activities, it has several significant environmental properties as well, acting as a natural sink for carbon dioxide and generating oxygen, cooling the surrounding environment, replenishing soil and improving its quality.

It is extremely important that this work succeeds and translates into a commercial return for our producers and levy payers.

What are your plans (both short-term and long-term) for the association?
Turf grass plays an incredibly important part in keeping our nation healthy, through sporting surfaces, backyards, and most importantly erosion control and water filtration.

Our plans for Turf Australia, short-term, are to bed down our association base with the appropriate skills so that in the long-term we have a platform to be continually raising our product’s awareness to regulators across the nation as well as domestic and commercial consumers.

What can we expect from Turf Australia in the future?
The board of Turf Australia are a group of very hard working, talented individuals who give an enormous amount of their time to the cause. They have a single minded mission to raise the profile of turf grass for the benefits of the levy payers and the community in general.

Turf Australia will continue to strive to gain greater recognition throughout the community, supporting levy paying suppliers, the landscaping industry, and the community as a whole.
