You can’t go past PlayWorks for safe and challenging playspaces as well as customised pieces for a wide range of projects.
The Play Works is at the forefront of providing safe yet challenging playspaces for children. The Australian-owned company was established in Brisbane in 1984 and is one of the few companies that can truly create customised playspaces, where equipment is individually designed and made for a one-off project. Extensive design and manufacturing experience has allowed the company to build concept playspaces both in Australia and internationally.
The Play Works understands the value of play. Its focus on providing play opportunities for all children led the company to be involved in a major all-access playground at Pioneer Park in Landsborough on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. This joint project with Caloundra City Council and the Queensland Government through Disability Services Queensland resulted in a cooperative, consultative process that was a credit to all involved. The outcome was an innovative, functional, all-access playspace that is a major asset for not only the local area but for other groups from as far as Brisbane and beyond. The project won the 2006 PRAV Play Space Innovative Award as well as the 2006 Kidsafe National Playspace Design Award for Innovation in Industrial Design.
The Play Works has also been instrumental in the formation of the Australian Playground Contractors Association Inc., a group formed initially to provide an industry voice for practical, sensible implementation of licensing for playground installation in Queensland and ultimately throughout Australia. The company also sees the association as encouraging the development of training programs specifically for the practical tasks that are part of playground construction but not well covered by other trade training.
