A UNIQUE PLAYGROUND FOR A VIBRANT COMMUNITY

Rathdowne is a showcase development located within Melbourne's northern growth corridor and is a vibrant community that offers a secure streetscape and diverse medium density housing options.
With a vision to create a lush one-hectare parkland, a collaboration between Villawood Properties, Spiire and KOMPAN was established to design and construct a central meeting place that would encourage the local community to play, relax and socialise. 
Inspired by modern street art, the KOMPAN Design Studio developed an edgy playground that is a standalone sculptural statement and functions as an inclusive and thrilling playspace that invites children of all ages and abilities to come and explore.
With custom rope play of varying heights and angles, there are so many opportunities for children to build strength, endurance, balance, and gross motor skills. 
At ground level, children can jump to their heart's content on accessible jumpers, rock together with friends on several seesaws, communicate through talk tubes and enjoy the thrill of swinging on multiple swings. 
The suite of custom products presents a fluid circuit of play opportunities that invites and encourages children to join in at any entry point.
The rubber softfall and concrete paths throughout the entire playscape offers accessibility for all, and inclusive play options are also available, with the inclusion of a Tipi Carousel and a Single Point Swing. 
The remainder of the central recreational space offers ample shade shelters for socialising, and the clever hardy planting palette enhances the 'sense of place'.
Since its opening, the parkland has been a massive hit with the Rathdowne residents and has attracted Melburnians from near and far.
