Waterplay, the manufacturer behind the Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre’s splash pad, is making waves after the Centre scooped up accolades from Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA). The facility was recognised with two National Awards of Excellence in November, not only for the excellence of the facility but also for its commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being.

The Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre stands as a beacon of sustainable design and operation. It embraces a bold vision, challenging traditional approaches to leisure center construction and operation. Powered entirely by renewable energy, it sets a new standard as Australia's first all-electric aquatic center. This remarkable facility also runs off 100% renewable energy.

The Centre earned PLA’s Community Facility of the Year, as well as the Environmental Stewardship Award, a new category that was introduced in 2023. This award celebrates initiatives that protect nature, improve climate resilience and ensure sustainability. The Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre leads by example, boasting zero greenhouse gas emissions and housing one of Australia's largest rooftop solar PV systems for an aquatic center.

Since its opening in 2022, the Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre has become a beloved hub for the community, welcoming over 1.35 million visitors in its first year alone. With over 10,500 members, 150,000 group fitness participants and 3,500 swim school enrollees, the Centre serves as a testament to the power of sustainable design in fostering vibrant, thriving communities.

From sequenced and on-demand feature activation, to cutting-edge water management systems that safely recirculate water to minimise use, Waterplay considers water use and conservation in every step of the design process.
