SHADE STRUCTURES OFFER MYRIAD USES

Outdoor areas like playgrounds and parks are important for the community. However, they can also be uncomfortable and even dangerous – exposure to the sun can cause discomfort, sunburn, heat stroke and much more. Using shade structures helps ensure that those using parks, playgrounds and other outdoor areas are safe and comfortable. What can you expect in the way of shade structures? Actually, you will find that shade structures come in an incredible diversity of styles and designs.

Fixed Shade Structures

If you have an area that requires permanent shading, such as a set of bleachers or fixed seating in an outdoor area, you can use fixed shade structures, such as metal or cloth awnings. These are relatively simple affairs that shade the area beneath them from direct sunlight and are designed to remain in place permanently. You’ll find that fixed shade structures aren’t confined to just traditional awning shapes, though.

Fixed shade structures can be simple or elaborate. For instance, you’ll find shade sails that offer unique designs, as well as a lower price than metal awnings or other permanent structures. These shade structures are often permeable, so they might not be the right choice for an area that will see use during rainy weather (impermeable shade structures are available).

Size and Scope of Shade Structures

You might not need a single, large solution. Instead, you might require smaller shade structures. You’ll find cloth and metal umbrellas that can work well for picnic tables and other types of outdoor seating. You’ll also find structures that can be custom designed to fit your application, regardless of the size and scope. Whether you need to protect an entire bleacher section or just want to put some shade over your pool deck, custom shade structures can offer affordability as well as unique designs.

Choosing Your Structures – Fabric or Metal?

There are two primary choices when it comes to shade structures – fabric and metal. There are other materials available, but fabric and metal tend to offer the best mix of longevity and affordability, as well as weather resistance (in comparison to, say, vinyl). Choosing the material for your shade structures is very important, as it will affect your budget both now and in the future. Working with a skilled landscape architect can help ensure that your shade structures offer the best mix of durability and aesthetics, as well as affordability.
