EKODECK

08 Oct 2014

Looking to build a deck? Then look no further than Ekodeck – the perfect ‘green’ alternative with a duo-tone installation that will enhance any landscape design.

When it comes to choosing the right material for your deck, you can’t beat Ekodeck. An excellent green option with its FSC certification, Ekodeck is available in four colours to complement any outdoor landscape design. Ekodeck composite decking is made from bamboo and recycled plastic and is available in set straight lengths of 5.4m.

When planning a deck there are a few things that need to be considered:

What is the purpose of your deck? What is your deck primarily going to be used for?

  • Entertaining & barbeque area
  • As a quiet area for reading & hanging out
  • Within a Zen area or as an extension of your garden
  • Around your pool or hot tub

This is an important consideration in the planning stages and the deck should be built accordingly.

How will your deck be built and structured? The support structure of your deck will require some planning. The higher up your deck is the more support you’re going to need underneath. If your deck is on a slope, you may consider tiering your deck on levels (as shown in the mages). To take advantage of this, you could make a duo-tone deck as illustrated in the photos.

How will you design your deck?Adding a deck to your home adds value to the property. It provides a beautiful living area and makes entertaining a breeze in the warmer months. Choosing the right kind of deck design can make all the difference between a nice deck and a stunning one so it is worth putting careful thought into it.

Using different coloured decking within a deck design is a new trend as shown in this project, which was recently completed at Frankstone Lookout in Melbourne, which overlooks the bay.

Ekodeck comes in four colours – Mountain Oak, Dark Brown, Silver Ash and Red Rock. All four colours can be used together to complement one another in a project.

Is your deck covered or exposed to weather?Thinking about the elements and how they will affect your deck is important and will come down to how fussy you are about keeping your deck in pristine condition. Ekodeck has excellent durability. It does not discolour and does not require painting. It is truly an excellent product whether you want to keep the deck looking pristine or allow it to be exposed to the weather.
