Sydney University recently undertook a design competition for its new Law School building. Reconnecting the campus to Victoria Park, a key requirement of the brief, meant designers needed to efficiently drain multiple levels of pavements. Consideration was also to be given to minimising excavation.

ACO’s SlabDrain with overall depth 130mm was specified. A shallow linear trench drain to compliment the designers need to keep walking surfaces flat whilst keeping the drainage function close to the surface. This minimised excessive pipework and associated earthworks. Iron Heelsafe^® Anti-Slip grates (rated to AS 4586) were also selected as they were strong enough for service trucks and safe for women with high heels.
