WALKING IN A NATURE-INSPIRED WONDERLAND
This rooftop early education centre utilises unique sculptural play equipment to inspire the imagination of its little charges.
Designed and manufactured by Jungle Play, the Bright Days Early Education Centre in Herston, Queensland, showcases a playspace that is the stuff of childhood dreams.
Serving the care needs of children from birth to preschool, this private early learning centre offers facilities that help nurture a child, meeting their evolving needs and helping them to reach their full potential before they enter the school system.
The centre’s curriculum is child-led at its core. They believe in putting the child in the driver’s seat of their own learning journey and empowering them in their decision making through play. With such an educational philosophy driving its programming, Early Days contracted play specialist Jungle Play to design and manufacture an array of play structures that would foster the imagination and help children to thrive on every level.
Aligned with their own philosophies on the power of play, Jungle Play was able to produce a collection of play structures that would outfit the centre’s entire rooftop, turning it into an imaginative and sensory experience that fosters a wealth of challenges and growth opportunities for children.
Brought to life by the talented team at Jungle Play, this rooftop playscape has everything a child could need to facilitate fun and learning. A Mushroom Playhouse sits in its own grotto, surrounded by Mushroom Tables and Chairs to encourage alfresco dining. The Treehouse Climber is a particular favourite, encouraging little ones to climb into the canopy in order to journey down the slide that wraps around the trunk. But if quiet play is sought, the Gum Nut Cubby next door is the place to be.
Perched undercover in a sheltered play area, a Turtle Cubby Climber pokes his head up out of the softfall surface and calls to kids to climb his shell. Turtle’s friend Minmi Climbersaurus sits in the next section over. Nestled among plants and raised garden beds, Minmi features a hollowed-out midsection that forms a fun tunnel to scamper through or hide in.
Scattered throughout these signature pieces is also selection of botanical furniture from Jungle Play, including Gum Nut Leaf Tables with Gum Blossom and Paper Daisy stools that make lunchtime or outdoor learning a fanciful experience. Various animal sculptures fit to climb on round out the giant natural wonderland that is the Bright Days Early Education centre playspace.
To ensure safe play, softfall rubber in vivid colours and artificial grass was added around the Jungle Play creations. Raised garden beds offer plantings for shade and help to break up the layout of the space, creating nooks and crannies ideal for play with friends or solo play, as well as
pathways that make a great bike track.
Visionary in its concept and size, this extraordinary playscape sets a new benchmark in play and early learning excellence. Its themed areas, designed to engage, enthral and challenge children, stimulate creativity, imagination and the development of physical skills to give its lucky inhabitants a great start in life.
