SPENCE PARK

Austek Play gave Spence Park a bright and cheerful update with their new playground installation.

Austek Play collaborated with Penrith City Council throughout the design process to ensure the play space design aligned with the council’s concept plan and design requirements.

Featuring a combination of traditional, sensory, climbing, spinning, and balancing items, this vibrant and colourful playground is accessible for children of all ages, interests and abilities.

The upgraded playground design by Austek Play includes something for all ages. The design added a custom Senior Activity Box unit for older kids, and a custom Junior Interactive unit for younger children. Alongside the Junior Interactive unit is a swing set with the Tango Swing Seat – a parent-infant swing seat that encourages and enhances positive interaction by allowing the pair to swing together facing each other.

Included in the play space is a custom timber Bee Hotel and Bridge. With the design of these items supplied by Penrith City Council, Austek Play’s wood-working team accurately constructed these natural elements in their workshop.

The Spence Park play space also incorporates inclusive play elements, allowing children of all abilities to play and participate. The Spinmee Inclusive Roundabout is accessible to users with mobility impairments or those that require a wheelchair, and the base of the carousel lies flush with the surrounding surface allowing for an easy transition on or off the equipment.  Austek Play also addressed accessibility requirements of the play space by combining the design of softfall elements with the considered placement of equipment to ensure that access to play elements is unobstructed for children and parents for both play and supervision.
