Solar lighting upgrade delivers safe, vandal-resistant illumination for PTA shelters.

The Public Transport Authority of Western Australia recently turned to Integrated Power to solve a common infrastructure challenge: how to deliver reliable, full-night lighting to a series of bus shelters without access to mains power — and with a need for extreme durability.

The solution? Integrated Power’s SC Series Solar Canopy luminaire — a robust, purpose-built solar lighting system engineered to meet the demanding requirements of public transport infrastructure.

Designed with vandal resistance as a core feature, the SC Series integrates a lithium battery pack and charge controller directly into the body of the luminaire, creating a streamlined two-part kit that includes just the batten and a solar panel. This significantly reduces installation time and complexity, making it ideal for retrofit or remote deployments.

A key innovation is the use of a flexible solar panel, which not only offers greater impact resistance than traditional glass panels, but also conforms seamlessly to the curved rooflines typical of shelter canopies. This ensures both better performance and a cleaner installation finish.

The SC Series also features programmable control options, enabling dimming schedules, timer settings, and energy optimisation to ensure performance across the full night.
