KANGAROO PIPELINE DILEMMA AVERTED

When a maintenance problem occurred during the construction of the Kangaroo Pipeline, which resulted in water eroding the surrounding embankment, Scapeworks' products were utilised to stabilise the problem.

When the fault in the pipeline occurred, Roads and Maritime Services were required to patch the pipepline and restabilise the embankment under it with polystyrene blocks. Scapeworks machinery was then required to install in excess of 100 tones of 5mm Blue Metal gravel around the blocks to add stability.

Situated several kilometers down a dirt track, with a very steep slope, the blower trucks had to back up to the extreme grade with great care. Once in place, up to 160 metres of hose was extended in order to place the blue metal and complete the job.

The Scapeworks method of installation was by far the most secure, as no other machinery could safely take the fill to the top of the slope without serious OHS concerns. This method also provided the most cost effective solution, saving time and money, for the sites requirements.
