ANGELO STREET CAFé PRECINCT

The City of South Perth has brought new vibrancy to the Angelo Street café precinct with a dynamic lighting upgrade designed and supplied by Integrated Power. The project has transformed the popular dining strip into an inviting evening destination through the installation of RGBW lighting across sixteen trees that line the centre of the roadway.

DESIGN INTENT

The goal was to enhance the streetscape’s visual appeal and support community activation after dark while maintaining a clean, uncluttered aesthetic. Achieving this required a system that could synchronise the entire street as one cohesive canvas—without the use of control cabling along the busy roadway.

TECHNICAL SOLUTION

Integrated Power engineered a fully wireless Casambi control system, enabling seamless coordination across the entire precinct. Compact ELV 25V DC RGBW floodlights were selected for their power, efficiency, and minimal visual impact. Each tree features two opposing floodlights—mounted east and west—housed in custom vandal-resistant cages to ensure durability in a public environment.

DELIVERY

Local electrical contractor Janissen Electrics executed the installation with precision, carrying out all works at night to reduce disruption to local businesses and traffic. The 350-metre-long installation was delivered safely and efficiently despite the site’s narrow layout and high public activity.

CONTROL & EXPERIENCE

Through Casambi’s wireless platform, the City now has near-limitless creative control:

• Everyday ambient scenes create a warm and welcoming glow.
• Event-specific colour themes—such as green for St Patrick’s Day, red for Remembrance Day, or rainbow tones for Pride Week—are pre-programmed to activate automatically.
• Weekend light shows run 30-minute animated sequences showcasing the full range of colour effects.
• Manual override options allow ad-hoc adjustments for community or promotional events.

The response from both Council and the community has been overwhelmingly positive. The new lighting not only highlights the café precinct’s character but also reinforces South Perth’s commitment to creating engaging, people-focused public spaces that come alive after dark.
