ACTI’VATED

GR Bricker Reserve Outdoor Gym has been ACTI’vated, offering a welcoming space for the community to embrace fitness and fun.

Located in Moorabbin, 15 km south-east of Melbourne in Victoria, the newly completed GR Bricker Reserve all-access outdoor gym has been heralded as a “game changer” for local residents seeking to get fit.

Part of Kingston City Council’s renewal master plan for the region, the existing outdoor gym was upgraded to reflect Council’s commitment to health, fitness and inclusion. After consultation with the community, Council called upon Proludic to design a community-centric space that would meet the upgraded needs of the reserve’s visitors and provide equipment designed with accessibility, inclusion and versatility in mind.

Combining smart design with cutting-edge technology to create an inclusive space that is inspiring and functional, Proludic has produced a space that encourages people of diverse ages and abilities to stay active and have fun together. Installed over a rubber softfall surface accessible via a wheelchair-friendly path, the outdoor gym boasts an array of fitness equipment that caters to all exercise needs.

At its heart lies the J37101 Inclusive Fitness Station. Designed to bring together a wide range of features that makes it suitable for people with diverse abilities, this station integrates key elements such as tai-chi wheels, a shoulder disc, sloping monkey bars, dip bars and a low horizontal bar. With all of these features, the station encourages users to engage in balancing, jumping, hanging, pull-ups, dips, abdominal exercises, push-ups and spinning. For wheelchair users, these activities promote upper body mobility and coordination, as well as adaptable strength training options. The station’s multifunctional design ensures a seamless blend of fun, fitness and inclusion that encourages everyone to challenge themselves.

The complementary J37100 Compact Fitness Station is a dynamic hub of fitness options that sits alongside the J37101.
Featuring a seat and a handy coat rack at its centre, this innovative setup provides six versatile workout elements that deliver an all-round fitness experience. The balance board, vertical jump platform and punchball stations challenge users to test their skills and compete with other users in a fun, inclusive way. Mixing fitness with friendly competition, the J37100 allows users to practise balancing, jumping, boxing, pull-ups, dips and abdominal workouts for an all-over body workout.

For those that want to crank it up a notch with some cardio training, the gym’s elliptical trainer and stepper are designed to get the blood pumping. The J37215 Elliptical Trainer offers joint-friendly cardio workouts that mimic walking or running, while the J37216 Stepper provides six resistance levels of up to 60kg and supports both forward and backward movements for a varied workout.

More than just an endurance and fitness test, the new GR Bricker Reserve all-access outdoor gym also includes advanced technology that elevates the fitness experience for users. QR codes on each piece of equipment connect users to the ACTI’FUN app, a virtual fitness coach that offers guided exercise and various levels, complete with instructional videos and cues. With the assistance of the app, all users are empowered to workout at a level that suits their individual needs. They can also track progress and engage in friendly challenges that create a motivating and interactive fitness journey.

Thanks to the many innovative units designed and installed by Proludic, GR Bricker Reserve outdoor gym invites the community to get moving together. Not only does the recreation zone achieve Council’s goal of ensuring the reserve remains a valued destination for recreation and community connection, it’s also a place where fitness meets fun cohesively.
