THE FUTURE OF DECKING

When it comes to landscape structures, choosing sustainable options are good for the environment and good for the budget.

Over the past decade or two, building materials have changed immensely. With a focus on maintaining budgets, meeting timelines and sustainability considerations, a contractor’s choice of building materials has taken on even greater import when it comes to the bottom line.

A common structure in many landscape designs, the humble deck is no longer a one-size-fits-all proposition of timber boards. Eliminating the need for ongoing maintenance or regular replacement as time weathers the materials is not a viable option for commercial projects any more. In order to optimise project budgets and reduce labour costs, hardier, low-maintenance, easy-to-install products are more desirable — which is why composite decking is now a preferred choice for many contractors.

However, things being what they are in the construction industry, not all boards are created equal. When it comes to composite decking, you want quality that guarantees longevity, durability and style.

Experts in the field, Futurewood supplies a quality range of environmentally friendly, low-maintenance building products including screening, cladding and decking. Its decking range offers three different composite timber products, with four board types to choose from, meaning contractors can always find what they need to complete any project from the Futurewood collection.

CLEVERDECK ORIGINAL

CleverDeck Original composite decking is a best seller. Ecologically sustainable and low maintenance, it looks like timber, without all the work that goes into maintaining it. A coarse, sanded texture enhances the timber look and feel, while Futurewood’s concealed fixing system ensures seamless installation that maintains the aesthetic of each board. Available in long board lengths with grooved edges, the easy-to-use fixing system helps reduce installation time to save on labour costs.

Made from recycled plastic, rice husks and hardwood sawdust, CleverDeck Original composite decking has colour pigments running through the decking board that eliminate the need for oiling or painting. It will not rot, splinter or cup, making it a great option for any structure.

Easily matched to any landscape design, CleverDeck Original is available in four standard colours and comes in a 138mm (w) x 23mm (d) x 5400mm (l) solid board.

CLEVERDECK ECO-PRO

CleverDeck Eco-Pro offers all the features of CleverDeck Original, in the same size board, but with one design difference. Available in a scalloped-back single-sided board, this product reduces the weight of the finished deck and helps the board to cool down.

Like CleverDeck original, Eco-Pro will stand up to the vagaries of the harsh Australian climate without warping, splintering or rotting — ensuring greater comfort and safety underfoot.

CLEVERDECK XTREME

CleverDeck Xtreme “capped” composite decking board is a coextruded decking product, meaning it has a hard, outer shell made from virgin polymers that completely encapsulate a traditional composite timber core.

The Xtreme cap is made from a blend of different polymers designed to make it super tough and much harder to scratch than traditional composite timber. It is virtually waterproof, making it very hard to stain and easy to clean. The boards are scalloped backed with a grooved edge profile and are available in 138mm or 185mm (w) x 23mm (d) x 540mm (l) boards.

The Xtreme’s virgin polymer blend also allows for the use of six vibrant colour hues, with subtle streaking creating a totally new decking aesthetic that will work for a variety of landscape designs.
