PARKS WITH PUNCH

Bespoke elements and consistent styling ensure the landscape design flows in Clyde.

Fleming’s Landscapes’ design team, Flow Design Studio, takes a bespoke approach to designing new urban parks, which is setting the tone across Melbourne. The recent delivery of another two parks at the Clydevale development in Melbourne is a shining example of how good design just ‘flows’.

Plymouth Boulevard Park and Pygora Way Park were both carefully designed and built by Fleming’s Landscapes, carrying forward the theme and feel of the entire community landscape and, in turn, setting a new level for design in the Clyde growth corridor.

Plymouth Boulevard Park is the little brother to the development’s main park — also designed and built by Fleming’s — so it was sure to follow the exceptional standard set in the central park, though with its own identity and feel.

To achieve this, Fleming’s design arm, Flow Design Studio, worked closely with Fleming’s Landscapes’ internal builders and experienced construction managers to develop a creative pallet of materials that could be incorporated into an architecturally exciting landscape plan.

With the aim of bringing a flat site to life, Flow Design Studio designed sweeping curved pathways and meeting locations with seats, surrounded by mounded gardens highlighted by swathes of tall, upright totems bringing height, interest and fun to the park.

A bespoke-designed park shelter mirrors those in the main park, and oversees the crescent playground that is full of natural play elements where kids can climb, crawl, swing and play to their heart’s content.

The visually appealing and highly functional local park has ensured residents feel a strong connection to the space. It provides all age groups a place to relax and play, with open space to kick about, picnic or walk the family pet, as well as places to sit and enjoy a good book or take some fresh air and exercise.

The playground was designed in a crescent shape to give it a highly natural feel. This offers local residents a place they can relax and enjoy on paths, seating elements and play equipment that all reject hard lines and instead provide soft, curved elements that please the eye.

Around the corner and “down the road” from the Plymouth Boulevard Park is the gorgeous local park found on Pygora Way.

Continuing the story of beautiful parkland living at Clydevale, Fleming’s developed a miniature version of the central park that also carries the look and feel of Plymouth Park.

Earmarked as a park to visit by Mamma Knows South and many other sites online that value well-planned and -executed parks, the small but beautifully presented Pygora Way Park is a winner on multiple levels.

Loads of visually interesting elements provide this park with a sense of style that is often hard to find in new urban communities. Custom-designed materials, playgrounds with fun and different play elements including boulders, bespoke swings, climbing mounds and hand-carved sculptures are all part of the fun in this community zone.

Open spaces are lined by small avenues that offer stature and that true “grand park feel”, designed to stand the test of time.

Fleming’s has been praised for its unique use of plants and trees throughout this estate and each park offers another step in the outdoor story of Clydevale — but each with its own unique flavour.

With such glorious parks within walking distance — making life not only easy but beautiful, well balanced and accessible — residents here will never want to move.
