AN INLET OF LUXURY

A prestigious $400M refined-living precinct gets a complementary landscape with a vibrant coastal vibe.

Located in Pelican Waters, Queensland, The Cove is a luxury residential project that delivers a masterclass in landscape design. Nestled on the southern tip of Queensland’s glorious Sunshine Coast in the heart of Pelican Waters, this ambitious commercial development spans four stages and will become the largest private project in the region, with up to 221 residences slated for completion by 2027. Offering a collection of modern retail conveniences alongside restaurants and cafes right on the water’s edge, The Cove takes up an enviable position in this highly sought-after locale.

With quality being a byword of the project, the award-winning team from Penfold Projects was commissioned by Evans Built to complete the first stage of the build by delivering a vibrant landscape that seamlessly combines luxury and functional outdoor living with a coastal aesthetic. An elegant, sophisticated and contemporary subtropical haven that complements the modern architecture of the structures, this landscape ticks all the right boxes.

Standout features include a substantial pool space geared towards relaxation and leisure, an expansive picnic zone and a play area, all ideal for casual recreation or family get-togethers. In addition, multiple garden arrangements surround the residential tower and adjacent townhouses, creating a serene and lush greenspace that connects the built structures and, more importantly, offers a serene natural environment for residents to enjoy.

Addressing demand by offering sophisticated living environments combined with beautifully designed greenspaces, The Cove establishes a tone of refined elegance thanks to the talented efforts of the team from Penfold Projects. Softscape works on the project included the selection and installation of premium plants, designed to soften the bold angels of the architecture. This selection incorporated a rich mix of sub-tropical species that could handle the environment and provide a verdant spread that underscores the building’s luxurious aura.

A bold entry statement with raised garden beds of angular lines adds a splash of green to the entrance, while inbuilt concrete seating contributes visually appealing functionality. The pool area is also a sight to behold, with planted islands dotting a pool deck of lighthued pavers that create shade and soften the hardscaped elements. A large playing field of natural turf provides a localised spot for ball games and community engagement.

Completely surrounded by swaths of planted patches that seem to flow from one space to the next fluidly, the grounds surrounding the main tower and accompanying townhouses dramatically soften the hardscaped elements such as feature cobblestones, basalt steppers and decorative path tiles used throughout the landscape. Functional landscape features such as concrete bench seats and strategically placed boulders add a practical element while also serving to break up the greenery vertically, contributing another layer of tactility.

The resulting visual appeal of The Cove’s overall landscape is impressive, undoubtedly adding to the properties visual appeal as well as its bottom line.
