GREENACRE SPLASH PARK

Bold Drinking Fountain Hydrates Greenacre Splash Park Visitors

Greenacre Splash Park has transformed an underutilised corner of Roberts Park into a vibrant, year-round destination designed for people of all ages and abilities. Developed in collaboration with the City of Canterbury Bankstown and key stakeholders, the project is a strong example of inclusive design and community-led urban revitalisation.

Inspired by the Aboriginal dreamtime story Tiddalick the Frog, the park features adventure and discovery play elements alongside architecturally designed amenities. Extensive community consultation, supported by high-quality visualisations, ensured the final design addressed the diverse needs of the local population.

At the heart of the splash park is the Bold Drinking Fountain, strategically positioned to provide easy access to drinking water for visitors. The all-ages, all-abilities fountain combines a traditional drinking fountain with a bottle refill station, allowing children and families to stay hydrated without interrupting play.

Constructed from marine-grade 316 stainless steel, the Bold Drinking Fountain is designed to withstand harsh conditions while delivering long-term functionality and low maintenance performance.

Community engagement played a key role in the project, with local schoolchildren helping to name shelters and play zones, and residents participating in virtual engagement activities to select names inspired by native plants and animals.

The result is a highly accessible, inclusive and welcoming community space where hydration, play and social connection come together, making Greenacre Splash Park a much-loved asset for the Canterbury Bankstown community.
