CHEVALIER COLLEGE

Chevalier College first opened its doors in February 1946, as a boarding and day school for boys. The first year of enrolments saw only 40 students along with the staff consisting of 8 priests and 5 brothers from the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. In 1973 the first female cohort joined the college which then followed with a full merger of Dominican Elm Court Girls School in 1977. In 2003, after almost 60 years, boarding at Chevalier completely ceased. Both of these events have contributed to the development of Chevalier College and through these changes, the college has been able to grow and evolve with the addition of new buildings and old ones repurposed.

In present times, the college is thriving, with over 900 students and approximately 100 staff. More than 13,00 alumni have graduated from the college since first opening back in 1946. Over the years the college has established state of the art facilities, some of which including a performing arts theatre, sports centre, 700 seated capacity hall, trade skills centre, mountain biking track, working farm, Jules Café and commercial kitchen, and extensive sporting facilities. With all these facilities readily available to all the students, it creates an enriching and nourishing learning environment with ample opportunities. With just established and high-class facilities, the college needs to look the part externally and this is where Astra Street Furniture was introduced.
