ASHFIELD BOYS HIGH SCHOOL

Ashfield Boys' High School is a government-funded comprehensive single-sex secondary school for boys, located on Liverpool Road, in Ashfield. It was established in 1962 and caters for students from Year 7 to Year 12.

The Requirement

To improve the outdoor recreational and social space at the high school by installing new benches and tables, fostering a comfortable and functional environment that encourages student interaction, collaboration and well-being during breaks and extracurricular activities.

The Challenges

Space Constraints: Optimising the layout of benches and tables within the available outdoor area was a challenge, requiring careful planning to ensure efficient use of space without compromising student comfort or accessibility.

Material Selection: It was important to choose materials for the benches and tables that could withstand weather conditions, daily wear and tear, and potential vandalism, while remaining low-maintenance and environmentally friendly.

Aesthetics and Design: It was important to balance functionality with visual appeal to create an inviting and attractive outdoor space that enhances the surrounding environment and school architecture.

The Solution

After evaluating the challenges and requirements, the school selected the Woodville Bench with Bolt-down legs and Orbit Table in Monument to improve the outdoor recreational and social space.

These products offered the following advantages:

Durable Materials: The Woodville Bench Seats and Barcelona Planters featuredwood grain aluminium slats with a western red cedar finish, providing a premium strength, maintenance-free, and aesthetically pleasing option. The Orbit Table is made from heavy-duty zinc-protected steel with a powder-coated finish, ensuring durability and resistance to weather conditions.

Space Optimisation: The Woodville Bench, Barcelona Planter and Orbit Table offered various sizing options and design configurations, allowing the school to customise the layout according to the available outdoor space.

Low Maintenance: The wood grain aluminium slats used for the benches are resistant to scratching, easy to clean and require no polishing or re coating like natural timber would. Similarly, the Orbit Table's powder-coated finish ensures minimal maintenance and resistance to wear and tear.

Environmentally Friendly: The aluminium slats are 100% recyclable and feature excellent resistance to UV radiation and extreme weather, making them suitable for outdoor use.

Customisation Options: The school had the option to choose custom lengths, slat types, and powder coat colours for the benches, and custom colours for the tables, ensuring the best fit for their specific needs.

Ashfield Boys School also took advantage of our 3D rendering service, so they were able to see exactly what their chosen furniture would look like in the space, before it was installed.
