WOVA is a contemporary urban precinct located in Canberra's Woden Valley, developed by Geocon. This mixed-use development comprises four distinct residential towers, collectively offering 802 apartments, 54 hotel rooms and 22 commercial tenancies.

The Requirement

To provide comfortable, durable and visually appealing outdoor seating options to enhance the outdoor environment, creating an inviting and enjoyable space for both residents and visitors.

The Challenges

• Durability & Weather Resistance Outdoor seating must withstand various weather conditions, including intense sun, heavy rain and temperature fluctuations. Choosing materials that resist rust, UV damage and general wear is crucial.
• Aesthetic Appeal & Integration The design should complement the surrounding environment. Finding a balance between function and aesthetics can be challenging.
• Low Maintenance Requirements Some materials require frequent maintenance so opting for low-maintenance materials while maintaining durability is key.
• Placement & Functionality Seating must be strategically placed in areas where residents and visitors naturally gather, such as outside entrances, near gardens, or along pathways, ensuring accessibility without obstructing emergency access routes.

The Solution
