Forpark Australia started working with a community group called Project Upwey more than three years ago to create a new playspace.

After years of work, finally their vision has become a reality and the whole community loves it!

Located next to cafes and restaurants, the new playspace includes a range of fun features for kids of all ages, including a basket swing, junior and senior swing sets in timber (custom made by Forpark), a climbing tower, senior slide, climbing cube, double rocker and built-in shade cover.

Cr Noel Cliff said the exciting new equipment and landscaped garden beds had replaced the aging playground.

“The new design directly reflects the community feedback we received about preferred play elements, themes and local values,” Cr Cliff said. “The old ship and slide, which was there previously, had come to the end of its lifespan.

“I’d like to thank community group Project Upwey who advocated to Council to ensure the project would go ahead.”

There were 314 responses to Council’s online survey seeking feedback for the design.

The most popular play elements that respondents wanted to see were natural elements, swings, climbs and slides.

“There are plenty of natural elements included in the new design including timber steps and balance beams, timber cladding and panelling,” Cr Cliff explained. “It’s wonderful that we were able to provide all of these elements including swings for all ages. There are challenging elements for the bigger children and the little ones.”
