POSSY NEWLAND RESERVE

Big adventures in Little River at the recently upgraded Possy Newland Reserve. Working closely with council and landscapers, Omnitech brought the client’s vision of a multi-age and inclusive playground amongst the trees to life. 

This small town now boasts a grand playground with different activity zones of freestanding equipment and a large tower unit for users of all ages and abilities, connected by softfall rubber access paths winding around the garden beds and trees. The edges are flanked by sandstone rocks for ancillary landscape play, dividing the spaces while creating new pathways and balancing activities along the borders of the play areas.

At the main entrance to the park, adjacent to a sheltered picnic area begins the journey for junior children with a sensory cubby and 4-seat koala seesaw for multi-user play and social learning. Opposite to this the rubber path leads to a double-bay swing with infant and all ages seats, and an accessible basket swing seat. Ahead of these at the center of the reserve sits a wheelchair accessible spinner, surrounded by the earthy red softfall rubber which creates diverging paths to the main play unit on both the junior and senior end.

With a natural colour scheme and native animal panel imagery that fits seamlessly into the leafy surrounds of the park, the large tower unit includes a wide variety of activities for junior and senior kids. At the junior end of the playground, there are more opportunities for sensory play with interactive panels and a crawl tunnel with easy step access to a low slide.

Rope bridges connect this section to the large tower with external rope climbers and internal climbing panels leading up to the tall wavy slide. From the opposite side of the tower, a twisted rope climber connects to an overhead ring trek for some more challenging play. With such great variation in activities and equipment across the reserve, there’s something for everyone and is sure to be enjoyed for many years to come.
