NEW ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND CHALLENGES KIDS WITH INNOVATIVE PLAY

Together with local company Urban Play, Stockland continues its mission to provide innovative play spaces for its developments. The latest of these, Bells Reach, is proving to be a hit with the community, offering exciting activities for all ages, age specific play areas and custom designed equipment unlike any in the world.

The playground, which opened on February 9, 2013, is set amongst the environmentally conscious development in Caloundra. Bells Reach features fluid, open spaces and multi-level play integrated with a custom-built landform. The park has been designed to provide three-dimensional, 360 degree play.

The summit can be reached in numerous ways – via the one-of-a-kind layered climbing net, rock climbing cleats, and rubber domes and mountaineering rope. The landform is also accessible via ramp, meaning children of all ages and abilities can play atop.

Retreat comes via stainless steel multi-slide or enclosed tunnel slide, and a giant tunnel runs through the landform, creating a passive play space and improved access to all areas of the playground.

Toddlers and young children can enjoy a dedicated area designed to encourage learning and socialisation with age-appropriate activities such as climbing, exploring, swinging and sliding. The park also features recreational and retreat facilities for older children and adults, including a ping pong table and handball and bocce courts.

Urban Play director Ben Urban, a key player in the playground’s design and installation, said Bells Reach represented a new high standard in playground design. “The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive,” he said. “A huge part of the design focuses on encouraging kids to get up and active through challenging physical play, and parents can be a part of that. It really is an area that the whole family can enjoy.”

The design and construction of Bells Reach Adventure Park was a joint venture for Stockland Developments between AECOM and Eureka Landscapes, with all play equipment designed and supplied by Urban Play and Kompan.
