ALSTONVALE ORCHARD WATER CHANNEL AND DRAIN

by Australian Concrete Mats

A shallow drain between rows of a macadamia orchard in Alstonvale, NSW, was beginning to erode from the flow of water. The client was after a long-term solution to support the water flow and vegetation growth of the area as well as something that would support vehicles driving on it. To achieve this, Australian Concrete Mats used an excavator to level and prepare the eroded drain and shape a channel for water flow. Before the concrete mats were put into position, the drain was seeded underneath and the mats were supplied with a nutrition mat underlay. The mats were then laid end to end and overlapped at the ends for a continuous flow. The concrete mats ensure that the drain will now be easier to maintain and will reduce erosion of vital top soil in the orchard.
