Jaffa Limestone’s unique Hollow Core Limestone blocks are proving a popular new addition to the Australian construction market, offering a cost-friendly and low-maintenance product for tradespeople and consumers alike.
Jaffa Limestone is excited to introduce the only hollow core reconstituted limestone blocks available in Australia. Having received federal government funding in 2014/15, Jaffa undertook extensive R&D to develop the hollow core block. The end result is a quality limestone product with a wealth of benefits that does not sacrifice the aesthetic quality or strength that makes limestone such a valued construction material.
“Our business could see the need to develop a hollow core block product which had the beauty and strength of our traditional Jaffa Limestone blocks,” says Brendan Merriman, Manager of Jaffa Limestone. “The funding allowed us to invest in the equipment to develop these blocks and we believe they will be a huge success.”
Manufactured in the standard Australian block size - 390mm x 190mm x 190mm - Jaffa’s Limestone Hollow Core blocks can be used in the same manner as other hollow core blocks available on the market.
“From a trade point of view, our blocks are a finished product once laid, making them an excellent material to work with. From a consumer perspective, people love the random texture of our limestone blocks and the unique and changing hue of the blocks depending on the natural light during the day,” says Merriman.
A point of difference with Jaffa’s Limestone Hollow Core blocks is that they do not require rendering, painting or treatment once laid. As such, final projects should prove to be a similar laid price to other hollow core blocks that generally require treatment or further work in architectural settings.
Creating a number of test projects from the Hollow Core block range, Jaffa Limestone has completed extensive lab testing to ensure the product meets regulations standards.
