PYRMONT DEVELOPMENT MOVES FORWARDS

The City of Sydney has approved Stage 2 plans for the $900-million mixed-use development in Pyrmont.
Winner of the design excellence competition, architecture studio BVN will revitalise the former quarry into a vibrant mixed-use precint.
Much of the distinctive sandstone for Sydney's prominent colonial buildings was quarried from this site. Exposing a 16-metre sandstone cliff face reveals the exological past, while landscape dsign will reestablish connections to Country.
"This place has a unique history that offers many layers of inspiration," explains BVN Principal Phillip Rossington. "Our scheme embraces Pyrmont's history and diverse character through evocative, contemporary architecture and urban design, activating an enticing hub with open spaces, recreation facilities and family-friendly amenities."
Located opposite Wentworth Park, this landmark project will offer easy pedestrian and transit connection into Pyrmont, Darling Harbour and the CBD. It will be house 230 residences and feature commercial spaces over four buildings, including a recreation centre with indoor sports courts. The exterior will feature public spaces including landscaping and street furniture.
