Perry Park is set for a major upgrade following community feedback.
Perry Park opened in 2019 and is located in an industrial area on the corner of Maddox Street and Bourke Road in Alexandria in New South Wales, with close proximity to Green Square train station.
Once a sewage farm and then a rubbish tip, the 16,000 square metre area will soon be home to a revamped, welcoming and well-designed park.
The park upgrades will include:
- A FIFA-sized multipurpose synthetic sports field for hockey, soccer, rugby league, rugby union, junior AFL9s, Oztag, futsal and touch footy.
- Change rooms, accessible toilets, a covered outdoor area and storage room.
- A loop path that connects to surrounding streets and an accessible entry ramp into the park.
- New lighting, spectator seating and fencing.
- A new paved zone for pedestrian access, minibus and car drop-offs, and parking.
- An open lawn where locals can relax.
There are also plans to enclose the outdoor courts so they can be used by more sporting groups in any weather.
Construction on these new facilities is expected to begin in 2022 and be completed in 2023.
