Irrigation Australia Regional Conference 2015
When: 26-28 May, 2015; Where: Panthers entertainment complex, Penrith, Sydney.
IAL’s 2015 conference will focus on the issues in the peri urban environment and will be held from May 26 to May 28 at the Panthers entertainment complex at Penrith, in western Sydney. The theme of our 2015 conference will be “Irrigation in a changing landscape”
The peri urban environment is of topical interest to our urban and rural members, focusing as it does on changing and competing water and irrigation needs of various constituencies as the urban community expands out from our cities and regional centres. The conference will also examine new demands from environmental and cultural communities and the impact from non-traditional gas and mining needs on access to water for irrigation.
The Penrith region, in far-western Sydney, has been at the forefront of the peri-urban experience, having seen a rapid increase in the urban population, pressure on traditional irrigated horticulture and farming operations, and the introduction of coal seam gas operations. Close to the conference venue, there is an urban population of around 2 million people, substantial greenhouse, turf, farming and orchard operations, significant golf course and playing field environments, rivers, dams, and university experimental farms.
As with all of our regional conferences, there will be a thought-provoking and widely-debated conference program, a “must-attend” conference dinner, regional tours, and an exhibition space with practical workshops and advice. There is also plenty of opportunity for members to sponsor parts of the conference or to exhibit.
The conference program is being produced now and IAL will soon be advertising delegate and sponsorship packages.
If you’d like to get involved in the conference planning, or would like more information, please contact Duane Findley on 1300 949 891.
